Export the group chat, say who each person is to you, and they are on the tree. The export is read in your browser and never uploaded — not one message is kept.
The chatter can stay in the group. Kunbaa keeps what the group loses: WhatsApp compresses photos and holds media only for a limited time, so the wedding video from three years ago can fail to re-download.

Is Kunbaa free?
For everyone joining a family, yes: the family tree, the wall and events, plus chat, calls and Family Safety in the mobile app (coming soon). There is one paid plan, Kunbaa Plus at $15.99 a month or $159.99 a year, and what it buys is keeping: longer videos in the archive, room for the whole family's archive, and the photos and videos from chat kept while you are on Plus. One person pays, on kunbaa.com; everyone else in the family is covered.
What are Moments?
Where the family's photos and videos are kept: what relatives post, newest first, seen only by your family — or, per post, only your extended family or household. It replaced what Kunbaa used to call Memory Lane.
Does Kunbaa use our photos to train AI?
No. Your family's photos, videos and stories are never used to train AI models or for advertising.
Can my kids have their own accounts?
Kunbaa accounts are 18+ on purpose. Kids belong in Kunbaa — in the tree and all over the photos — added by the adults. Adults keep it, kids are in it.
How private is Kunbaa?
Your family's space is invite-only, there are no ads, nobody's data is sold, and everything is shared only with the family. No public profiles, no discovery, no strangers.
Do we have to stop using WhatsApp?
No. The group is where the family's daily chatter lives. Kunbaa keeps what the group loses — WhatsApp compresses photos and holds media only for a limited time — and it takes the calls once the app is out: a call can only come from a relative in your family space, so nobody hands out a phone number.
How is Kunbaa different from Ancestry or MyHeritage?
Different job. Ancestry and MyHeritage research ancestors — records, DNA, documents — and Kunbaa has none of that. Kunbaa is for the family that is alive right now. Many families use both.
