The calls families ask about most

Each page lists the hours both homes are awake, now and after the next clock change, city by city.

Diwali evening, Sunday 8 November 2026

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November this year (see the Diwali 2026 dates for each country). If the family call starts at 7:00 pm in India that evening, this is the time in each home:

No single hour is evening in every home. Pick the call for the places your family actually lives, and if one home gets the early or late slot this year, give them the easy one next time. For the rest of the day, from the host home to who brings what, see how to plan Diwali with family abroad, and the call times worked out for a family in three time zones.

When the clocks change

Countries move their clocks on different days, and some never do. Between two changes, the gap between two homes can be an hour off what the family is used to. The dates below are worked out from the time-zone database, not typed in.

Five habits for a family call that lasts

  1. Write the time in one home's clock

Use the host's or the grandparents' clock, and put each other home's time beside it. "7 pm Delhi" survives being forwarded around the family; "evening" does not.

  2. Let the busiest person choose first

Often a grandparent with an early night, or a parent on shifts. The rest of the family has more room to move.

  3. Take turns with the awkward slot

If one home always gets the 6 am call, swap it next month. Fair beats perfect.

  4. Check again when clocks change

Countries change their clocks on different dates, so for a few weeks a year the gap between two homes is an hour off what everyone remembers.

  5. Keep it short and regular

Twenty minutes every Sunday is easier to keep than two hours once a month, and nobody has to save up news.

For a bigger gathering across several countries, read how to pick a date for a family gathering across time zones, and for the everyday side, staying close to family in another country.

Keep the call with the rest of the family plan

Kunbaa is a private space for the whole extended family: the family tree, the photos and the family's events, seen only by the relatives you invite.

  • Ask instead of guessing. Put two or three times in a poll on kunbaa.com. A date poll shows the time in every home beside each option, and polls are on every plan.
  • Make the big call a family event. On kunbaa.com, an event shows each relative the start time in their own time zone, so nobody has to work it out, and the photos from the day can go in the event's album.
  • Call from the family space. In the Kunbaa app, relatives in your family space can ring each other by voice or video without swapping phone numbers. How group calls work.

Frequently asked questions

More questions? Read the full FAQ or the help centre.

What is the best time to call family in another country?

An hour when every home is between 8 am and 9 pm on its own clock. That window depends on the day, because countries change their clocks on different dates. Pick your homes and a day in the planner and it lists those hours. If there are none, it shows the closest starts, so the family can take turns with the early or late slot.

Does the planner know about daylight saving?

Yes. Every time comes from the international time-zone database (IANA) that phones and computers use, so each country's clock changes are counted on the right dates. Nothing on the page is typed in by hand.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free and needs no account. The times are worked out in your browser, and nothing you pick is sent to Kunbaa.

What counts as awake?

8 am until 9 pm on each home's own clock. It is a rule of thumb: if a grandparent goes to bed at 8, treat that home's window as shorter.

How do I share the time with the family?

Use the copy button under the result. It writes the time in every home in one line, ready to paste into the family chat.
