Using your email on your child's phone?
It is the quickest way to get a child into the family app, and it is the one to avoid. Here is why, and what to do instead.
Why not share your account
One email opens one account, and one account is one person on the tree. Signed in with your email, your child is you: their posts and messages go out under your name, they can read your chats, and they can change anything you can. Kunbaa cannot tell the two of you apart. Kunbaa accounts are for people 18 and over, and the account holder may not let anyone younger use theirs.
Give them their own place on the tree
Add your child to the family tree as your son or daughter. Add their birth date, or answer No when Kunbaa asks whether they are 18 or over. Their place is then kept as a child's:
- Their email and phone are seen only by their parents, the person who added them and the family's admins.
- Kunbaa sends them no invite and links no account to their place.
- You can still add their photo and their details, and they show in their place on the tree for the whole family.
Share with them on your phone
Look at the family's photos, the tree and the event plans together on your own phone. Kunbaa works the same on any phone or computer you sign in on, so there is no need for a second sign-in on theirs.
Questions families ask
Can my child have their own Kunbaa account?
Kunbaa accounts are for people 18 and over. Until then your child is on the tree as a family member you look after, and Kunbaa will not send them an invite or link an account to their place.
What happens when they are old enough?
Invite them from their place on the tree. They take the same place, so their photos, the posts that name them and their spot in the family are already theirs.
Who can see my child's details?
For anyone under 18, their email and phone are shown only to their parents in the family, the person who added them, and the family's admins. Everyone else in the family sees their name and their place on the tree.
We already let our child use my account. What now?
Sign out on their phone and sign back in only on yours. Anything they posted stays in the family under your name, and you can remove it like any of your posts. Then add them to the tree as below.
